Animal Charms
Ever since the dawn of time, humans have been fascinated with animals. Throughout history, animals have played a large part of and in communities lives. In certain parts of the world, animals have been worshipped and revered. Throughout time, animals have been sketched and drawn, farmed for food and clothing as well as been kept as protectors, companions and pets.
A major part of the historical significance in the relationship between humans and animals was the development of decorating ourselves with parts of the animals, from skin to bones. It was this ancient tradition of wearing animal bones that is widely considered to be the first form of charm jewellery worn by primitive man. Ever since then, the history and development of both charms and jewellery in general has centered around and favoured animal designs.
